Training for systems engineering with a focus on function modeling

Software developers/architects who will perform and moderate interdisciplinary modeling

Target group

Software Developer Control Engineering, ...

  • who would like to develop their skills in the field of interdisciplinary graphical modeling (block, state and flow diagrams)
  • who want to speed up their work through effective code generation (focus on PLC)
  • who want to reduce the documentation effort through single-source-of-truth

Modular architects and project managers, ...

  • who want to design and standardize mechatronic functions across machines, series or platforms
  • who want to introduce and standardize a functional structure

Developer, create the interdisciplinary functional description.

Developing functional structures, modeling technical functions and moderating function workshops

Objectives

Development of methodological competence for functional decomposition and functional modelling for mechatronic systems.

  • Mastering structuring principles
  • Mastering techniques for graphical modeling (structure and behavior)
  • Ability to derive requirements for function modules

Optional:

Development of communication skills and moderation techniques with the aim of achieving the best possible team performance in interdisciplinary modelling workshops. This is particularly aimed at developers who have little experience in moderating workshops.

Mastering functional modeling in a team

Contents

Introduction to functional modeling

  • Physical vs. functional modularization
  • functional decomposition
  • Structure and behavior diagrams

Modeling of case studies (preferably your products)

  • Derive functional structure
  • Modeling functions in a team
  • Detailed functions
  • Generate and execute code

Optional: Basics of communication and moderation

  • Introduction and exercises (focus: moderation of functional workshops)
  • Direct application in interactive function modeling

Advanced training:

  • Variant modeling
  • Multiple use
  • Configuration and rejection

Training content and focus can be adapted to your requirements.

In-house training

Scope and duration

The training is divided into 3 sections of 2 days each, which can be booked separately:

Part 1: Function modeling - Getting started

Part 2: Functional modeling - Structure

Part 3: Functional modeling - in-depth study

There should be approx. 4-6 weeks between the parts. This allows your team to apply what they have learnt to their work and incorporate the experience gained into the follow-up appointment.
